Edinburg UFO Festival Cosplay Competition Rules

  • -The competition is open to individuals 16 years of age and up.

    -Participants must be present at the UFO Festival for checkin April 5, 2024 from 5:30PM-7PM. Late checkin (7PM-7:30PM) will result in 5 points off the final score. No checkins will be allowed after 7:30PM.

  • -Costumes must be related to the theme of UFOs, extraterrestrial beings, or space exploration.

    -All costumes should be family-friendly and adhere to the event's guidelines. Preference will be given to homemade costumes.

  • -Participants must pre-register for the competition online or in person at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library.

    -On-site registration may be available on the day of the competition, subject to availability.

  • -Creativity: Originality and creativity of the costume design.

    -Extra points will be awarded for homemade costumes

    -Craftsmanship: Quality of costume construction and attention to detail.

    -Presentation: Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their costumes on stage.

    -Extra points will be awarded if participants actively and convincingly act out their character during the presentation.

  • -Prizes will be awarded to the top two participants.

    -Prizes totaling $1,000 will be awarded to the first-place winner and the runner-up.

    -Judges may also recognize honorable mentions for outstanding costumes.

  • Participants consent to the use of their images for promotional purposes by the UFO Festival.

  • -Participants found in violation of the rules or engaging in inappropriate behavior may be disqualified.

    -Offensive Costumes: Costumes that contain offensive or inappropriate content, including but not limited to, discriminatory symbols, hate speech, or explicit imagery.

    -No realistic weapons will be allowed. Props are permitted following inspection by onsite staff.

    -Disruption: Intentional disruption of the event proceedings, including but not limited to, excessive noise, interference with other participants, or failure to follow event staff instructions.

    -Violation of Safety Rules: Participants must adhere to safety guidelines provided by event organizers. Any actions that compromise the safety of oneself or others will not be tolerated.
